Cheese Mo’z – Coal Fired Pizza

Main Seating Area
A fairly recent addition to the Stonecrest area just off of Rea Road in the new Robinson Farm shopping center is Cheese Mo’z, owned by Dan Morgan, who as I understand it is a former Carolina Panther. I’m not much of a sports fan and had never heard of Dan Morgan before but a new Pizza restaurant is hard to resist. Everyone loves pizza! Except my Dad who has choked a few slices down from time to time when it was assumed that everyone really did like pizza, but I digress.
Back to the topic at hand, when I walked in the place had an oddly familiar feel. I didn’t pick up on it immediately but it feels very much like a Brixx Pizza. This isn’t a bad thing. I like Brixx. It’s formula is Bar+Pizza=Business and that seems to have worked well for them. While I like Brixx pizza, it’s not particularly spectacular however it is reliable and is one of the few restaurants that serves well into the 10pm range for a night owl like myself. Cheese Mo’z seems to have already garnered a solid barfly following if this night is any indication. Few tables were occupied in the dining area but the bar tables were buzzing. They also stay open until at least midnight every night. I don’t know when the kitchen closes but this trip was around the 10pm range.
The pizzas here cover the typical gamut of California style as well as a couple traditional options. There’s also the typical salads, pastas, sandwiches, etc. Tonight was a spinach pizza due to splitting the pizza with my vegetarian friend. The pizza was actually pretty good. Similar although probably a hair better than Brixx. Service was top notch as well but given we were one of only two occupied tables in the dining area it really should’ve been. There are better pizzas out there for sure but this isn’t bad and it’s convenient for the late nighters.
