Tasty Yo

After leaving Crepe Cellar having watched my friends dive into a Banana Dessert Crepe I had to pop in next door to Tasty Yo to get my sweet fix. I had noticed them before while cruising through NoDa and read a little about them online. I was very curious what they were all about.
Short answer is this is a very small frozen yogurt shop. Not the TCBY kind but a more healthy take. What you find in there is a few places to sit, lots of very vibrant colors, a soft serve machine filled with frozen yogurt, several topping choices, a cash register and a lovely young lass who takes care of things. After surveying my topping options I settled on pineappple, strawberry and mango.
The result was a very tasty little treat that wasn’t too unhealthy! The yogurt isn’t very sweet so you have to depend on the toppings to sweeten things up but that worked quite well. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back again even though it’s not terribly convenient at it’s current location. The good news about that is that for people that live in the Ballantyne area there’s a new location opening up at the new Robinson Farms which is home to Cheese Mo’z, Cosmos and Sweet T’s. I suspect they’ll continue to expand and eventually take over the globe! Seriously, congrats to Tasty Yo for their first expansion location.
This is a great place for a healthy treat. It may not be the best meal replacement but it could do in a pinch but it definitely makes for a great healthy snack.

Tasty Yo is good, but it is more in the style of Pinkberry. I wish Charlotte had something like Chapel Hill’s Yogurt Pump, which is some of the best frozen yogurt I’ve ever had – and they have multiple flavors too that rotate out every day.
