This one’s a WINNER! Passion8 Bistro definitely falls into the “Favorites” category. I first heard about this restaurant mentioned on the radio. From memory I drove just over the South Carolina state line from Pineville looking for it. probably a mile or less down on the right I saw it and I have to admit that from it’s location and rather unassuming exterior I became skeptical of what was on the inside. Once inside my fears began to fade rapidly.

The inside is dark and cozy with a little bar in the back and only handful of tables available. I suggest making a reservation but we had no trouble walking in and getting a seat. The menu isn’t particularly broad but what is there is incredible. Pasion8 pride themselves on being a Slow Food restaurant which is all about using local ingredients. We spoke with the chef after our meal and his enthusiasm was brimming over.

For my meal I had the Clover Mushroom Farms Soup and the Shrimp Sensation entree. Both were excellent and flawlessly prepared. Bread with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar is available while you wait and you’re also offered an amuse bouche. Service is excellent and the meal is well paced. This really is a stellar little restaurant.

I really don’t have much else to add. Everything was really very good. I do still personally prefer Barrington’s and I’m also still a very big fan of New South Kitchen but Passion8 ranks up there with these wonderful establishments. Despite Passion8′s unusual and out-of-the-way location it’s definitely a place you need to add to your list of places to check out.Passion8 Bistro on UrbanspoonBookmark and Share
