The Village Tavern is a restaurant that’s been doing quite well for itself for may years in the South Park area. It’s located in the Rotunda building just across from the outdoor amphitheater. It’s a really great location with a massive outdoor dining area that’s awesome in good weather. There’s also lots of parking but most of it is underneath the building.

Several of us met up here for dinner so it gave me the opportunity to review it. I hadn’t been here it quite a while but I’ve been here many times before. It’s usually a reliable performer with several options to choose from that rarely disappoint. When we walked in on this Friday night and it was pretty busy but we were able to get seated pretty quickly despite the large crowd. The interior of this place is dark and ornate, sort of like what I might expect some uppity golf club’s smoking lounge to be like. The menu had changed a bit since my last visit and looked better than ever. I decided to check out the Chicken Colorado. I had never had it here before but is a treat when I have the opportunity to have it since I rarely see it on many restaurant menus. This particular incarnation of Chicken Colorado didn’t disappoint either.

For a nicer than average chain restaurant they manage to offer a broad menu with solidly good quality food and service and that’s a rare thing. You can spend a little more money at a few restaurants in the vicinity and get a little better meal but you won’t be disappointed at all with the Village Tavern. It’s a quality choice at a decent price point for the quality.Village Tavern on UrbanspoonBookmark and Share
