Similar to Wolfman, Brixx is a small local pizza chain that serves a variety of California style pizzas. Instead of hanging their hat on a played out horror movie theme they’ve opted play up how the pizza’s are cooked and back it up with tacky 80’s art. While the pizza selection isn’t quite as good as Wolfman nor are the pizza’s quite as good they’re pretty close in both regards. Brixx tops them though in all the other areas. Salads, pastas and sandwiches are all quite good. Much closer to what you’d expect from a quality restaurant.

I usually get the Spicy Shrimp Pizza which is truly spicy and has a reasonable amount of shrimp on top that is deveined thankfully. If I’m feeling the need to go healthier I’ll usually grab a Brixx Salad. It’s a light spring mix type salad with goat cheese and a couple other little tasty tid bits that make it stand out.

This particular location is quite large, has plenty of TV’s around displaying various sporting events and really packs in the 20 somethings late in the evening. Service tends to be mediocre, especially since the staff tends to be busy either serving beers to the 20 somethings or chatting. The atmosphere is pretty good if you don’t mind beer swilling frat boys. I do have to say most everyone is well behaved and you won’t likely come across the out of control drunkard. There’s a decently large outdoor seating area as well as a few tables that are in a covered area. If you’re there late the restaurant goes from non-smoking to smoking after 10pm.

The bottom line is good food at a decent price if you aren’t picky about service. If you’re in your mid 20’s apparently you’ll especially love it. I’m not in my 20’s anymore but I love it too, warts and all.

  1. Be aware of the country club set with their children. If it’s a nice day outside, parents tend to let their kids run free. If you’re there to enjoy a nice evening outside you can pretty much forget about it. It was so bad, our party sought sanctuary in the Wine Shop’s bar.
